South Africa Transformative Travel Experience 2026: FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What does the trip cost and what's included?
The experience is $3,500 per person (double occupancy) or $4,000 for a single room. This covers all lodging, most meals, in-country transportation, museum entries, guided experiences, facilitated discussions, and a fair living wage for our South African partners. It does NOT include international flights, specialty beverages, travel insurance, or personal spending money.
Payment plans are available—half due by May 1, final payment by September 1, 2026.
Do I need to be physically fit to participate?
Some walking is required at historical sites and during township tours, but the pace is relaxed and accommodating. If you have mobility limitations, please note this on your application so we can ensure transportation and activities are accessible for you.
I'm traveling alone—will I feel comfortable?
Absolutely! Many participants travel solo and find the group becomes a community of connection. You'll be paired with a roommate (unless you opt for a single room), and the entire experience is designed to foster meaningful relationships with fellow travelers.
What's the group size?
We limit the group to 24 participants total to ensure intimate conversations, personalized attention, and authentic engagement with local communities.
Is this trip only for women?
The trip is planned by women, for women, and centers women's stories—but anyone is welcome! People of all genders, sexualities, and backgrounds who resonate with the transformative travel approach are invited to apply.
When should I book my flight?
Plan to arrive in Johannesburg by 1:00 PM on November 1, 2026, and depart Cape Town in the early afternoon on November 11, 2026. You're responsible for booking your own flights, but we're happy to connect you with our travel guide Charlton if you'd like support with before or after trip tours.
What if I need to cancel?
Your deposit ($500) is non-refundable. Remaining installments are 50% refundable up to 120 calendar days before the first day of the trip (July 1, 2026) in the case of cancellation. Refunds are subject to applicable credit, debit or transfer fees. Refunds will be made by the same method of payment. Any payment made after July 1 is not refundable. You may transfer your spot to someone else and facilitate their payment to you of fees already paid. Refunds must be requested in writing.
What kind of visa do I need?
U.S. citizens do not need a visa for tourism stays in South Africa under 90 days. Check current requirements based on your passport and confirm your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates.
How do I apply?
Complete the application form and submit your $500 deposit. We'll confirm your spot within one week and begin pre-trip community building and education to prepare you for the journey ahead.
